The bus even features a digital clock.
The buses were always Scania and for a few short years, Scandinavia seemed to have a whole fleet of brand news buses that reached even the farthest corners of Tanzania. We would wait at 5:00 in the morning in the cold Songea bus stand for the 12-15 hour trip to Dar es Salaam, but we knew that we would likely arrive more safely and with more comfort than if we had taken any of the cheaper lines, and we would munch on Glucose cookies and sip a Tangawizi out of glass bottles as we trundled down the steep hairpins past Iringa. But Scandinavia grew complacent with its lead and when I returned to Tanzania only three years after I first left there, the buses had aged terribly and frustratingly broke down on nearly every trip that I took with Scandinavia. I arrived late to Dar and wandered the streets looking for chicken, but it was too late and I returned to my hotel hungry.
